The Way to Start Making Changes to Your Body
The aim approach to making changes to your body?! HAVE A PLAN!
Over the last 6 months my life has gotten extremely busy. I spend a lot of time in the car driving from state to state for work. This quickly started to take a huge toll on my body and I felt myself getting a bit “pudgy”(pudgier than what I am used to for my body - I am by no means saying that I was “fat” or overweight in the before photo - I just hadn’t felt like my normal self!) I kept making excuses by telling myself I would get back to my routine once things “slowed down”, however, the reality is that there is always going to be SOMETHING going on and my life had only gotten busier in the last 30 days.
I decided I needed to ditch the excuses and come up with an actionable plan to accomplish my goals. Given that my time and resources have been so limited with the amount of travel I had I needed a workout plan that was not only quick, but can be completed from pretty much anywhere.
That’s what led me to create what I call my “30:30 Challenge”. Quick, fasted-paced 30 minute full-body HIIT workouts using minimal equipment. As soon as I made the decision to do this I committed myself to the challenge by taking actionable steps to outline all workouts in advance (days 1-30), take a before picture and promptly started posting on Instagram to hold myself accountable.
Committing to a specific time frame was extremely helpful in pushing through the hard days. Having an end goal gives you something to look forward to and allows you to measure the success of your efforts. It wasn’t until the end of week 3 that I actually started to notice the changes in my body. My pants fit better, I tightened up my tummy, and my thighs shrunk a bit. All this progress without changing my diet at all! To be honest, I actually ate worse these last 30 days than I typically do. I traveled a lot, went to weddings (and yes even had dessert), and didn’t strictly follow my normal fasting schedule. I still was able to burn fat effectively just by taking 30 minutes a day to do so.
With that being said, I am excited to continue to challenge myself by creating actionable plans, outlining a program, and setting an end date to evaluate my progress. I strive to always be my best self - which includes not only working towards my best body but continuing to grow my confidence muscle.
I started this 30 day program on a whim with no real expectation of how my mind and body would transform. I am so happy that I not only see results, but I made a promise to myself and KEPT THAT PROMISE! And that is perhaps the most rewarding part of this journey.
